Twist the pot: Twist the top rim of the pot (sort of like you're opening a jar) to lift the plant out of the decorative pot base. The rim decorative pot and the entire grower pot (the pot the plant grows in) will come out as one piece.

You will notice there is a blue and white wick hanging out of the bottom of the grower pot. The plant will use this wick to draw water from the reservoir and into the soil as it needs.

Refill the reservoir: Fill the reservoir with room-temperature water up to the top of the little window. Do not fill past that point to avoid water touching the base of the grower pot and causing an overwatering situation.

There is a small blue plug in the base of the decorative pot. If the plug is pushed down tightly it should seal and should be kept that way if using the pot indoors. If you're using the pot outdoors in an area where rain will fall onto the soil it is wise to leave the plug open so the reservoir does not overfill and overwater the plant.

When the pots are separated you will notice the specially designed blue-and-white wick strung over a white plastic spike that has been inserted into a drainage hole in the base of the pot. When putting the two pots together it is important to make sure the wick is hanging down into the water in the reservoir.

Water the plant: As your plant grows, it pulls moisture through the wick and into the soil, ensuring it is never over- or underwatered.

Check the reservoir: Watch the little window and refill the reservoir as it empties to maintain the plant's moisture levels. Fill only to the top of the little window.
